Extend Summer in Essaouira with 150 Km of Coastline

August 22, 2018

Essaouira is a dream destination and still relatively unknown as an autumn / winter sunshine spot. The city officially enjoys 320 days of sunshine per year. It has spectacular beaches which are quiet and offer perfect conditions for water sports such as surfing and windsurfing, along with a cosmopolitan, developed medina, making this a hot destination for autumn / winter breaks.

Until 27th October easyJet offer Tuesday and Saturday direct flights from London Luton. An alternative is to fly to Marrakech served by many airlines daily and then take a coach in just under three hours or a private transfer in two and a half hours, which Jardin des Douars can organise to this coastal paradise.

An independent hotel set in botanical gardens, Jardin des Douars is the perfect base to experience Moroccan hospitality, offering privacy and easy access to the beach and UNESCO medina.

Discover a wide selection of experiences including:
- Art: The Galerie Damgaard, located at the gates of the medina, showcases Arab and Berbere cultures with a creative power of gesture, wide variety of themes and plenty of jubilant colour. Essaouira is known as an artist retreat full of inspiration.

- Beach & Lunch: Ocean Vagabond on the beach in Essaouira, is one of the coolest places to dine whilst watching the waves. The laid-back terrace is the perfect backdrop after a day learning to kite surf. Ocean Vagabond offer several kite surf and surfing options.

- Medina Shopping: The walled medina is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here visitors will discover the most laid-back medina in Morocco, compared to larger towns and cities. Traditional craftsmen create authentic Moroccan pieces sit alongside more contemporary shops and restaurants by young Moroccans who have moved here recently.

NEW - coming soon: Bayt Al Dakyra, la Maison de la Memoire / The House of Memory: Essaouira will soon have a new museum and a centre of historical, cultural and spiritual research. The House of Memory will be unique and will showcase the Jewish-Muslim past of Essaouira.

Jardin des Douars in its exclusive location in the hills overlooking the Ksob River is the perfect hotel for a memorable stay in Essaouira. It is located inside a botanical garden with views of argan-studded hills. There are many varieties of tropical trees and plants. Maybe visitors will spot the various phoenix canariensis or the butia capitata, callistermon linearis or the sabal pamettos. If these are hard to find just ask one of the many gardeners.

There are 19 bedrooms and 6 suites in total and three luxury villas. Each has its own distinct style decorated with colourful Moroccan furniture and fabrics. Most bedrooms and suites have their own outdoor area with seats and tables.

Jardin des Douars is home to a hammam and spa where treatments are offered using Argan oils. Le Jardin des Douars offers a varied hammam and spa treatment list not typical of most hotels, the Argan oil used is local and organic. Treatments include the Skin exfoliation Hammam with Smimou Salt and Argan Oil.

The hotel's facilities include two outdoor heated pools, one for adults only, three dining areas including a large open plan restaurant, a 'couples' only restaurant and alfresco dining on the terrace. There are various menus which showcase Moroccan dishes, French dishes and fusion cuisine. Main dishes include Melting lamb shanks, pea purée, parmesan chips and Beldi chicken tajine with olives, orange reduction and saffron.
