Built in the 1850s, the cottage was originally the Coachman's house and stables. In 1891, Frederick Peel built the walled garden around the cottage, creating a unique outlook with real charm.

Creative director Fjona Hill of Hampton Manor is behind every design detail of the building. It is an ode to Hampton Manor's Arts and Crafts muse; William Morris.

Fjona Hill comments: "We’ve collaborated with craftspeople and hunted down antiques that hold a story of their own to create four unique tables to gather around in the cottage. Each table lends something different to the kind of conversations you want to have. The cottage’s layout provides different spaces to move in and out of, allowing you to change the energy and mood throughout the day. Hold animated conversations in the breakfast room, take a relaxed moment on the sofas, and then reflect over a late night dram in the sun room.”

Craftsmanship is at the heart of Hampton Manor. The team have developed relationships with the best suppliers in Britain for Michelin-starred Peel’s Restaurant’s tasting menus, and looked to the Manor’s past to design 15 Arts and Crafts inspired bedrooms. At the end of 2017, Fjona renovated the Manor’s public rooms, looking to its Arts and Crafts history for inspiration. She commissioned British artists to fill the rooms with their wares, creating spaces both steeped in history and contemporary charm.

In 2016 Peel’s Restaurant was awarded a Michelin-star and its fourth AA-rosette. Head Chef Rob Palmer sources the best seasonal, British produce and cooks it using modern techniques. Each dish focuses on just three main ingredients, giving them an honest simplicity. The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday for dinner and seats 28 guests. Four or seven course tasting menus are available with optional accompanying wine flights. Hampton Manor was also awarded the first ever Michelin Service Award for outstanding service.
