Boutique riad Palais Amani, located in the Fez medina will unveil three new luxury bedrooms this November. Palais Amani will now become home to a total of 18 suites and bedrooms. This art deco building was partly rebuilt in the 1930s and today offers a restaurant, roof top bar and cookery school and underground hammam, all open to non-residents also.
The three new bedrooms are all 25m2 and designed completely with Moroccan products. The plaster design above each bed was hand carved by local Fez craftsmen who have passed this knowledge down for generations. Palais Amani have added a modern twist to the plaster design to ensure the rooms were truly unique. Naturally the rugs come from Fez, the stained glass, tiles and wooden windows were all handmade in Fez. The linens are all from Morocco. The new bedrooms fall under the ‘Luxury Room’ category and are priced from €250 B&B per room per night.
Palais Amani showcases the finest authentic and traditional Moroccan decoration. A large garden of 600m2 is at the centre of the palace filled with orange trees where birds, permanent residents here, provide the birdsong in this tranquil haven.
Guests inspired by the new bedroom design are at the heart of a unique shopping experience. Each district in the medina (Africa’s largest) specialises in a certain craft. With Palais Amani being set on the edge of the oldest part of the medina it is the most convenient location for the crafts district. The hotel provides visitors with an invaluable little black book of contacts for those wanting to come and source beauty for their homes inspired by Palais Amani and Morocco. Palais Amani have contacts with the leather works for skins, large stools and a multitude of leather covered household items. Stunning pottery that is both affordable and diverse can be sourced just a short walk from Palais Amani as can copper works including intricate lace copper work for light fittings, trays, mirrors, tables and more. All can be created in a bespoke made-to-measure way.
Embroidery too that can be adapted for soft furnishings but also mosaics made to measure can be found in this magical medina. All mosaics are set on resin to be easily laid in the home. Panels for kitchens, bathrooms and hallways can be made to measure, safely packaged and shipped.
Palais Amani can also organise for a personal shopper to be appointed to save time and accompany guests through sourcing and negotiations.
Fez is now easier to reach with both Air Arabia Maroc and Ryanair serving the city from London Gatwick and Stansted four times per week. An internal Marrakech – Fez flight also facilitates arrivals in Morocco’s second city.
